2025 - DACD
SUPSI Image Focus
The fifth edition of the Earth Emergency public lecture series aims to understand the changes that await our world and to reflect on possible responses to be implemented, thanks to guests who are leading experts in the field and who share their visions, projects and research.
Climate change has entered an unforeseen phase of acceleration. The year 2024 was not only the warmest year on record, but the first to cross the threshold that should not be crossed: that of 1.5 °C of global warming relative to the pre-industrial period. With that, the commitment made at the 2015 Paris climate conference has never been so close to failure. It is now clear that the course of the crisis, aggravated by a global policy environment increasingly distant from the ambitious goals of the ecological transition, makes global warming a non-reversible phenomenon.
The three terms in the title of the 2025 edition (resistance, resilience, adaptation) represent a momentous challenge that affects ecosystems, economies, regulatory systems and the principles that guide our way of being in the world.
In line with its multidisciplinary approach, the Department of Environment Constructions and Design SUPSI is promoting the fifth cycle of public conferences Emergenza Terra (Earth Emergency), in partnership with Bobbium since 2024. This cycle is designed for all citizens, with the aim of strengthening and enriching their connections around the issues of climate change and its possible solutions.
The guests of Earth Emergency move between the worlds of scientific research and the arts.
Guests: Stefano Knuchel, Sonia I. Seneviratne, Marco Paolini, Paolo Maini, Stefano Mancuso, Valeria Barbi.
