History of the SUPSI Department of Business Economics, Health and Social Care - DEASS
DEASS is characterised by its innovative nature due to the collaboration between three different and complementary areas of expertise: economic-business, social and healthcare. The objectives are to strengthen the profiles linked to the three areas of expertise, while respecting the identity and professional specificity of each area and further encouraging interdisciplinary collaboration in key contexts.
DEASS offers Bachelor's degree courses in Nursing, Ergotherapy, Physiotherapy, Social care, Business Administration and Leisure management, and Master's degree courses in Business Administration, Nursing and Social work. The Department also has an office in Landquart, in the canton of Graubünden, where a Bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy in German is offered, as well as continuing education courses in rehabilitation. The Rehabilitation and Exercise Science Laboratory (RESlab) is also active in the field of research.
The educational experience is characterised by a systemic and interdisciplinary approach aimed at training well-prepared and competent business, social and healthcare professionals, who are able to respond in a targeted manner to the demands of the labour market and the needs of users, constantly adapting to new and increasingly complex economic, healthcare and social scenarios.
In addition to undergraduate and graduate studies activities, the Department also offers continuing education, research and service provision. All its activities are characterised by the added value of operating in a context in which the professionalisation aspect is combined with that of academic scientific discipline.
The Department fulfils its mandate by respecting fundamental guiding values such as: attention to individuality and relationships, accessibility to education, equal opportunities and autonomy. It also acts consistently with SUPSI's stated values: practicality, originality, multidisciplinarity, partnership, internationality, territory and innovation.
Particular attention is paid to the personal growth of employees and students and to the enhancement of the ethical and cultural aspects of the individual, elements that contribute to the creation of a working environment based on transparency and quality of relationships.
