The health area of the Department of Business Administration, Health care and Social work regularly offers refresher courses that are valid for the recognition of foreign degrees in Switzerland.
The "Utilization of Scientific Knowledge in Professional Practice" Module enables the acquisition of the credits required to obtain permission to freely practice non-medical health professions in Switzerland, in compliance with the regulations and legislation issued by the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI)-see Ordinance of November 23, 2016 concerning the Act on the Promotion and Coordination of the Swiss University Sector (O-LEPSA).
The course is spread over a total of 7 days (3+2+2), 2 of which are planned in distance learning (FAD) mode, which the participant can attend without the need to be present in the classroom. Content is centered mostly on research methodology and its application in work practices (evidence). Hints of the Swiss health care and insurance system are included, as well as meeting with professional trade associations.
Certification is achieved by classroom attendance where provided (maximum absence, 20%, equivalent to 8 hours - one day) and acquisition (note 4) of validation work. The acquisition of the module, entitles one to 5 ECTS credits valid in the European continuing education provisions for health professions and recordable in one's Portfolio.
